I ONLY BAKE CUPCAKES OF TRUTH

And cookies I guess, but they're notoriously deceitful.

IT'S SUNDAY NIGHT AND I'M...

...playing Eddie Money/Foster the People mashups on the ukulele in a suede blazer and grey y-fronts. Pretty standard, really.

I LOVE THE STUPID OREO

You know the one.
His top is on upside down, so the curly pattern is faceplanted in the icing.
Some people complain about the Stupid Oreo and whine about quality control and how they can't eat it like a real Oreo because the whole twist, lick, (dunk), munch formula is thrown off by the cream (first of all, if we're being honest it's not cream at all. It's icing. Come on now) being stuck in the crevices (side note: my geomorphology prof last year always made a point of saying creVASSes when talking about glaciers so we would know they were a way bigger deal than a regular crevice such as what you find on an Oreo).
I don't have a problem with the Stupid Oreo for two reasons:
1) I don't eat Oreos according to the prescribed formula. Everything is better in sandwich form, why would you purposely de-sandwich something?
2) I didn't even buy real Oreos. All is forgiven when you're store-brand.

I LEAVE FOR THE SUMMER...

And Blogger changes everything.
Typical.

Actually, no hard feelings Blogger, change is good. I changed my whole life. I changed schools, I got a new phone (and plan! Unlimited texting is the best, why did no one tell me this sooner?), I moved across the country. I'm living on my own for the first time and I love it. I have a new job. I learned how to play a new instrument. I don't want to be a monkey anymore (for real this time), but I am studying them a bit, so the Calypso dream lives on!

I'm completely happy.

Change is great.

I LOVE BLANKETS (and BILET GETS HER MODEL ON)

I finished Baby's Blanket and I love it. I bought the backing flannel months ago because it was cute and cuddly and had little vehicles printed all over it. Maybe I like it because I'm moving across the country, and trains and planes and red wagons can bring me back to visit. I initially toyed with making some sort of airplane appliqué for the front panel, but I'm not my father. I cannot draw planes. So I went with a sailboat (I know, I took the easiest route ever)
But I really, really love the end result.

Also, it was sunny today so I took better pictures of Bilet 2.0. No new outfits yet, but it was fun.

A Terrible Film Choice

Why have I not made this dress in Siobhan-size yet?

I totally gave Bilet a nosejob

So. Silly.

I hope The Kid loves her as much as I do.

FOR THE KID

One of my best friends is two years old. She's witty and charming, funny, snuggly and adorable. She calls me Savon and feeds me goldfish crackers. She thinks that Henry  and Charles are the greatest toys ever because they're best friends and they go on adventures to the other side of the couch and they've adopted Baby Goat because he didn't have a Mummy Goat to pick him up from the doctor. And she overlooks the fact that Henry is actually a girl. And when we catch the end of Let's Make a Deal before her favourite TV show comes on she always correctly chooses the Big Deal of the Day. Always.
I'm moving across the country at the end of the summer in pursuit of academic interests.
I'm going to miss The Kid immensely.

In (admittedly selfish) hopes that she'll miss me too, I've  made her a present so that she'll have something to remember me by. It's based on a toy that was given to me as a little girl that I loved: a plush bunny in a purple dress that I named Violet. Knowing The Kid's affection for bunnies, I brought Violet with me to play one day and now when I don't bring her, there are disappointed queries of "Savon, where is Bilet?"
So I sewed her a Bilet (sans pattern, naturally):

Violet and Bilet
And I'm making lots of clothes for Bilet 2.0 to wear (naked bunnies just look a little sad). So far I've done a bathing suit (which I want for myself), a jumper with a green t-shirt (that I might want), And a blue party dress (I want one of those too).

In the works are pyjamas, a tutu, jeans/a jean skirt and perhaps a jacket. Pictures will be posted  soon.

I'm also working on a baby-quilt for future The Second Kid. My grandma made all of us quilts when we were born, and since I'm on a huge sewing kick right now I thought I'd give it a shot. Honestly, I'm a bit intimidated since Grandma's quilts are the greatest and I don't even know where to start.

Bilet 2.0 will be presented to her new owner when the quilt is presented to their Mama. Tears will be involved, I am sure.

BY JOVE!

Look who finished an essay before 3 am.
And has an entire page of bibliography.
And who actually read the material cited in said bibliography.

Yeah. I know.
My hair's a mess.

ESSAY WRITING

Today I cleaned the bathroom because I didn't want to work on my essay.
Pretty typical.

WHY I SHOULD LEARN ITALIAN

Because Vivere (on Omni at 9) looks like the best soap opera ever (barring Y&R because sometimes it's too good to be a soap opera and other times too bad to be anything).

I'LL WAKE UP WHEN IT'S NOT SO EFFIN COLD OUT

I've been on hiatus for a while now.
Like months.

Winter, it's your turn.
